Florida: Week 11

This week I continue to highlight the Great Horned owl family. The baby owls have begun to get a feeling for their wings and they’ve begun to fly for short periods but never straying too far from their nest. Actually their nest doesn’t exist anymore. It has been completely demolished. Who or what demolished it is certainly a mystery because there is no evidence of it ever having existed both on the tree or on the ground. As we get closer to spring I would have expected to see more diverse wildlife appear. We did to some extent but not as much as in past years during this same time period. The only “new” wildlife to report are the wood ducks. These guys are hard to photograph. They are very skittish and they don’t allow you to get too close before they fly off. Most of the photos in this post will be of the usual suspects like Herons, Egrets, Deer and the like, so have a look and tell me what you think.
